![]() ![]() The task for today, how to retrieve the runaway ship has been acheived so I am very pleased with that. Alternatively, I have been considering having a programmable block that I have a"parked" mode and if the programmable block detects the grid is moving, not sure if this is possible yet, then the thrusters will be enabled, and now in addition as you suggest, the rotors could be safety locked on/off. I have spent a lot of time ensuring the landing feet sections to not touch but it looks like they will have to go. You have confirmed to me that rotors do infact create phantom forces as I suspected. ![]() That said I probably used a similar design with the unwelded blocks so it is something for me to investigate. When the ship ran away today it was connector locked to a space station and the other ship was docked on the other side of the space station. ![]() After the vidio I decide to build a space station to negate the running away. Good point! I will evaluate the docking connectors but it is a shame this could be an issue because I like the idea of marrying catwalk plates with docking connectors to create a pathway from one ship to another. If they are clipping slightly it might be enough to cause phantom forces. Originally posted by muffins:The way those two large ships are docked - is one slightly clipping into the other? I noticed that you have unwelded blocks very close to the connecter that the mining ship is connected to. Ps I didn't realise you could make BPs in survival but I do now :) Oh another issue which has come to light is that when a grid with gravity is travelling at 100m/s I would have thought that when I turn my jetpack dampeners on that it would have been relative to the gravity grid but no, I was splat against the back wall. What happened to being connector locked to the space station?Īnyhow, now I have a method to get the ship back I am very pleased. Questions I have is, why does the ship fly off like that? What causes it? (You may have to wait a bit for the HD version.) Here is a video I made a few days ago which shows the issue before I connector locked it to a space station.Ī point of interest is 19m and 30 sec but I would start watching from 17min so you get the jist of what has happened. I usually do change the name regularily for the exact reason you stated it is just that I went off to mine a whole astroid which took some time and I didn't expect the ship to go flying off considering it was connector locked. Respawning into one of the medi bays was the perfect answer! It was over 200km away travelling at 100m/s - for no apparent reason whatsoever!!! ![]()
